Puppy Diary Series: Week 6

Tuesday, September 22, 2020

Another day, another puppy picture! This is a poor quality picture, but we had a great quality day today.

Walked in on Riley tonight. All by himself. Sitting in the dark happy as a clam. Outside his playpen. Just chillin’. This is the first time one of the puppies from this litter has decided to climb the six-inch doorsill of the playpen, and usually there’s some ruckus when they land. But not with Riley. He made it and was proud.

I extended the puppies’ play area, because it was very obvious from the number of times I found them outside of it today, that they would appreciate more space to run around! I’m also closing the door to their pen now that they can climb out, and I let Daisy in with them periodically. (BTW, the plaid mat is a washable potty pad that I’ve started using over the past few litters. I love it because the puppies can’t tear it up like they can the disposable ones. Not like that’s ever happened…)

I honestly don’t mind when the gang is out of the pen as long as they’re supervised. In fact, every morning we’ve created a sort of routine when I open the door, they all climb out, and we play around on the floor together before breakfast. They love it, I love it, and it keeps their mind off of their prospective food while it’s softening. This picture is another really terrible one, but it’s hard to get a good shot with four puppies all in your lap at once! 😉

Saturday (Shabbat) September 26, 2020

The weather was gorgeous today, so I let the puppies play outside for the afternoon. They LOVED it. Absolute heaven all day, right up until sunset.

Sunday, September 27, 2020 (Yom Kipporim, Day of Atonements)

Today was a very quiet day for our family. Thankfully the weather was beautiful again, and we were able to repeat yesterday’s outside time.

Monday, September 28, 2020

Not to be the daily weatherman or anything, but today was less predictable and more chilly so the pups stayed in the house. I don’t think they could have cared less, because they took the day in typical stride:

(Again with the poor quality pictures, y’all. I apologize, and I’ll aim higher next week.)

I’m looking forward to the next couple of weeks, speaking of which. We should all be getting a little more outdoor time than usual, because our family is hosting a camping-centered event starting this Friday. But for me it will still be largely puppy centered, and I’m glad we’re staying on our land this year for that reason. (If any of you want to come visit your puppy, they are old enough and we would LOVE a visit from you! Contact me and we can compare schedules.)

Check your google drive folders for six week pics. 🙂
